Rigid Sun Tunnel Skylight Installation
VELUX Rigid Sun Tunnel skylights are cheaper and easier to install than traditional skylights, making them the most cost-effective way to bring natural light into your home. Our expert installers have more than 20 years of experience in attic, roof and interior alterations.
All CO Skylights installers are employees — not independent contractors other dealers use. We will walk you through every phase of the Sun Tunnel installation process and treat your home with same care and attention we give to ours.
First, your installer will go into the attic to check rafter locations, take measurements, and mark off where the ceiling and roof holes will go.
Up on the roof, your installer will cut a hole and install the top collar, the upper portion of the Sun Tunnel, lens, and flashing. This hole will later be connected to the lower portion.
Back inside, the lower portion of the Sun Tunnel is installed, the seams sealed, and the diffuser and trim ring placed in the ceiling, finalizing your sun tunnel installation!
Sun Tunnel Skylight Installation Cost
Skylight and Sun Tunnel installation costs vary greatly based on two factors: the cost of the materials and the cost of the labor. The biggest difference is seen in the cost of labor.
Sun Tunnel installations are very straightforward and can be completed in less than one day, using as few as two technicians.
New Skylight installations are much more complex and time consuming, often calling for alterations to your roof and interior drywall. On top of that, drywall must be replaced — often times by a specialist — and a painter brought in to match the interior paint work once the install is complete. In some cases, skylight installations can take up to a week or more to complete!
When comparing the cost of material and labor for Sun Tunnel installations vs Skylights, you may find a traditional skylight installation can cost THOUSANDS more than a Sun Tunnel installation!
