Colorado Home Cooling & Daylighting is excited to announce a new effort in our commitment to environmental sustainability and our public lands by partnering with the National Forest Foundation and investing in healthy forests!
CHCD is donating a portion of every sale in support of the NFF’s 50 Million for Our Forests campaign, the largest campaign in support of reforesting our publicly-owned National Forests.
The National Forest system spans 193 million acres in 42 states and Puerto Rico, sustaining more than 3,000 species of wildlife, 10,000 species of plants, and vital watersheds that provide tens of millions of Americans with water. Our National Forests also play a crucial role in mitigating climate change.
In 2020, the NFF funded enough trees to sequester 2.8 million metric-tons of CO2E over the next 100 years, that's equivalent to removing 600,000 cars from the road for one year! The goal of the 50 Million for Our Forests campaign aims even higher, and when achieved will have a dramatic effect on the future of our climate. 50 million trees can sequester 25 million metric-tons of CO2E, equal to a year's worth of emissions from powering 3 million homes.
The NFF uses a time-tested, science-based approach to restoring National Forests, focusing on high priority regions across the country that each have their own urgent reforestation needs. From the Southeast to the Pacific Northwest, the NFF works closely with the U.S. Forest Service and its partners to plant trees where they are needed most — including right here in Colorado.
For every dollar donated, one tree is planted, but we're upping the ante and planting five trees for every whole house fan, and two trees for every Sun Tunnel we sell now through the end of 2022. These donations are then matched in-kind by the National Forest Service to pay for things like site assessments, seed collection, seed growth and professional planting, and future monitoring to ensure success.
